Do you need an easy holiday gift you can give to your neighbors or coworkers? Make a batch of this peppermint bark for a simple, tasty treat that everyone will enjoy. It takes about 10 minutes to prepare and makes 12 servings — depending on how much you keep for yourself, of course.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 12 ounces white chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 8 candy canes, crushed
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Fill a large pot with about 3 inches of water over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, and place a heatproof bowl on top of the pot. Add the semisweet chocolate, stirring occasionally until it's melted. Add the peppermint extract to the chocolate.
- Pour the mixture from the heatproof bowl onto the baking sheet, using a spatula to spread it evenly. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes until the chocolate sets.
- While the water in the pot is still simmering, place another heatproof bowl on top. Add the white chocolate and stir until melted. Pour the white chocolate over the semisweet chocolate. Top with candy canes. Refrigerate for another 20 minutes until the chocolate sets.
- Break the bark apart with your hands, or use a knife dipped in hot water to cut evenly.
